I've been a big fan of Chris Dixon's excellent blog for a while now, so you can imagine that I was really excited to see him writing about SEO in a post last week. Chris kindly called out SEOmoz, which humbled me, but he also espoused some thinking in the comments that made me a bit concerned and was the catalyst for this post. Here's how it went:

The Google page rank is a number used by Google to classify sites to see which are using relevant keywords and content. When a visitor types a certain keyword that a site uses, this website is ‘pushed’ in front of the visitor if its has a better page rank than sites within the same niche. The end result of this is obvious: the site with the best Google page rank will reap more sales and visitors than one with a poor page ranking.
