How Twitter and Facebook killed blogging

I can tell from personal experience, that Twitter and Facebook is on the way toward killing personal blogs. I have one personal blog and one hobby blog. My blogrolls are getting smaller and smaller as I delete the blogs that haven't updated in the past month. It's brutal because I enjoyed reading a wide variety of personal bloggers, from Mommy Bloggers to Boomer Bloggers to Xer Bloggers.

Do I always link from my blog to my site or not?

I've heard some people say every blog post should link to another piece of content on my site.  These internal links can help me improve my rank.

I've also heard that you should only link to your site once every so often as a blog that continually links to a business site can be seen as spammy and a sales tool which will kill any momentum.

So, which is it?
