Does Google like certain blog "providers" over others?

Posted October 12th, 2010 by terriebari

I'd like to know if Google has a preference to certain blog sites over others. Wouldn't the blog provider have to also have some SEO in place in order for a blog to be found?

thanks!

Pros and Cons of IFrames

One of my clients is forcing me to use IFrames beacause of this new Listing software he must implement.

What are the pros about it in SEO terms ?
Are there cons we should go over first ?
Or it doesn´t make any substancial difference.

Saludos.

Do URL Shorteners hurt your link building efforts?

Posted April 23rd, 2010 by melaniesimmons

I am just starting link building efforts on our site.  Do URL Shorteners hurt my link building efforts?  I use Twitter a lot and have to shorten the URL's.  Also, I like to shorten them to remove tracking codes that I want to embed in the URL.  Please advise.

Should you be careful Optimizing your site?

Hello everyone,

I am new to Inbound Marketing University, and to SEO in general so please bear with my lack of knowledge. I am currently working at trying to get a friend's site optimized so he will rank higher in the search engines, for a hand full of different keywords. My question is, before I go into the site and start changing content, do I run the risk of loosing the ranking I have on other keywords that are already doing well. The last thing I want to do is to change the content so that I lose what  high ranking I have on the other current keywords.

Looking for some website feedback

Hello Inbound Marketing Folks,

I'm going through the training for IMU right now, and I'm about 1/3 of the way through, and the training is awesome.  I'm slowly tweaking my site to adhere to the ideas and concepts of the training, and I'm looking for some feedback.

Hello all!

My question: Is there such a thing as registering an "internet brand keyword", and do I need to do it?

H1 Tag

Is there a limit to how long my h1 (2,3, etc.) should be?

how often should I redo my sitemap

Posted December 12th, 2009 by Donna

I noticed my site map has a date for when I created the site map.  I update my pages regularly should I also be making a new site map regularly so the date is fresh on the sitemap itself?

If I am not adding a new page to the site map, how often should I create and submit a new one?

No Follow Tags

Posted December 12th, 2009 by Donna

I have been told that no follow tags should be on all outbound links (links to other sites) on my website as this helps my site rank better. Example we are a guest ranch and have many links to local entertainment and activities.  Should all of these have no follow tags?

An article I read said that my non relevant pages should have no follow tags.  Like about us, maps ects.  And that by inputting no follow tags on the pages that aren't important it gives more google juice to the pages that are.

Great Content Equals Great Rankings, Right? Wrong.

I've been a big fan of Chris Dixon's excellent blog for a while now, so you can imagine that I was really excited to see him writing about SEO in a post last week. Chris kindly called out SEOmoz, which humbled me, but he also espoused some thinking in the comments that made me a bit concerned and was the catalyst for this post. Here's how it went:
