I agree with what Debbie has written here, about blogs providing value to a resume, but not entirely replacing the old-fashioned resume that has worked so well for billions and billions of marketers around the world. A blog is definitely a way for potential employers to evaluate the expertise of a candidate, as well as getting to know the owner of the resume in further details.
A resume should come first when searching for a job, just make sure to link to your blog so employers can get to know you and your experience better before giving you a call.

A blog creates a sense of who you are and how you think. It connects you with link-minded people and increases your chances of getting a job in the field you want.
Interestingly enough, a blog also decreases the chances of starting work at an environment you don't feel especially attached to. Potential employers form opinions about bloggers-job applicants based on so many more factors than the academic and work experience sections of their resumes. Through blogging, companies can make better educated decisions about their potential employees.

Well if you make enough money from your blogs, you don't need a resume any more.. full stop.
I also believe that having worked for myself online for so long, I am more unemployable (for a conventional job) than I was 5 years ago when I was already unemployable (big fish from small pond syndrome)
