Using the InboundMarketing.com Website

1. I'm having trouble logging in, what do I do?

When logging into InboundMarketing.com, you must use your "User Name" (not your email); your username is the name you listed when you signed up, most likely your first and last name separate with a space. For example: John Doe

Once you're logged into InboundMarketing.com you will be able to change your User Name, email and password if you need to.

2. How do I post a news story?

Like Digg or Reddit, InboundMarketing.com allows users to submit and vote on news stories. The difference? Stories on inboundmarketing.com are related to marketing generally and inbound marketing specifically.

As a shortcut, drag the above link into your browser bookmarks toolbar, and click on it when you have a story you want to submit!

3. How can I enter my location information?

There are two places to add your location information: the interactive user map and your personal profile.\

To edit your location on your personal profile, click on My Profile >> Edit >> Personal Profile.

By updating the map, it will show your location on the community User Locations page. Editing your location there will show a bubble on the map with your name. (The interactive map does not show on your profile.)

 

4. If my photo appears distorted on my profile how do I fix it?

If your InboundMarketing.com profile photo is appearing distorted, try the following:

Step 1: Create a new version of your photo that's a perfect square (maximum dimesion of 200x200 pixels). Then save it.

Step 2: Upload the new photo in your InboundMarketing.com profile. (To access the photo upload, click "My Profile" in the navigation that appears on the left after you login.)

5. How do I list my company on InboundMarketing.com marketing directory?

InboundMarketing.com includes a directory of marketing companies.

To include your business on this list, simply click on the "Add a Company" link on Companies page.

6. Is there a search function for the forums?

Yes. If you enter a term into the search box on the top right, you will be directed to a page that has an advanced search function. From there, you can control which sections of InboundMarketing.com you would like to search in.

 

7. What timezone is EST?

This timezone is Eastern Standard Time, or GMT-5.

 

 

Inbound Marketing University (IMU)

1. If I can’t make an upcoming live IMU webinar class, will the classes be archived or available for download?

Yes, the webinars are archived and available to view or download on the Classes page. You can also download all the previous webinars as well!

 

2. Are IMU classes free?

Yes, the entire program is free. All the content is donated by our awesome partners, and the program is organized and managed by HubSpot.

 

3. Are Inbound Marketing University classes accessible for Mac OS users?

Yes, all files are in MP4 format. Or, you can watch the classes in Flash format on the Classes page.

 

4. How do I access the live class webinars?

You must register for all upcoming live webinars on the main University page. We will email you a link to enter the webinar prior to the day of the webinar. You will be able to login fifteen minutes prior to the start of the live class time.


5. I can't make the webinar at the scheduled time, can I view it at a later date?

If you can't make the webinar, will post the webinar video on the Classes page within 48 hours of the live class. Also, all the classes will be added to the Inbound Marketing University kit after the classes occur, so you can download all the webinars at once (or mix and match!)

6. Can I get a copy of the slides of the webinar?

All the slides are included in the Inbound Marketing University kit, as well as the HubSpot slideshare page.

 

7. How often do new classes occur, and how many new classes will IMU organize?

Inbound Marketing University will launch two new classes every two months. (Next classes will occur in August.) You can check the University page for updated details or sign up for the Inbound Marketing newsletter for updates on these classes.

 

8. What do I get after I pass the Inbound Marketing Certification Exam?

You receive custom HTML code badge that specificially links back to your personal InboundMarketing.com profile. You can put this code on your website or blog.

You also get a PDF certificiate that you can print if you chose. Unfortunately, the PDF is a standard template for everyone and is not customized.

You also have the opportunity to join the Inbound Marketing Certified Professionals LinkedIn Group. Everyone that passes the certification will have the email address pre approved to join the group.

 

9. My name isn't on my PDF certificate. Is it supposed to look like that? Can I get one with my name on it?

We currently don't have technology set up to render individual names on everyone's certificates. We will try to have that set up for the August relanch.

If you have already received your certification, the link to your certificate on your profile will also be updated with the new and improved PDF!

10. How can I display my IMU badge on my website, blog, LinkedIn or in email signature?

When you are logged in to your InboundMarketing.com account, you should see your customized HTML code in your profile. It authenticates your profile by linking back specifically to your account.  You can copy and paste this code into your website or blog.

To put the badge on your email signiture, Right Click >> Save As >> and follow your email client's instructions to upload it to your signiture.

To put the badge on your LinkedIn profile, join the Inbound Marketing Certified Professionals LinkedIn Group. Everyone that passes the certification will have the email address pre approved to join the group.


11. When is the next certification exam and for how long will it be available?

The next certification exam will launch on August 13th at 9:00am EDT, and will close strcitly on August 20, 209 at 5:00pm EDT. You must register for the exam prior to the exam launch date in order to take the exam. We need to preload a list of emails in order to track everyone's performance. To reserve your spot for the next exam, there will be a form on the University page.

The exam is offered every other month for a one week window. 

12. What if I can't make the exam during the time it's offered?

The sign-up deadline and the test-taking deadline are very strict in order to streamline the certification process. If you can't make the exam when it's offered, you can wait until the following opportunity in two months. This information will be updated on the University page.

13. If I fail the exam, can I take it again?

Yes, you can take the exam again, but you must wait until the next time it's offered (most likely two months later.) You can continue to take the exam until you pass.

 

14. If I’ve already taken the test, can I access the correct answers or see which questions I got wrong?

No, we will not be announcing the correct answers in order to give those who plan to take the exam later an equal opportunity.

 

15. What is the format of the certification exam, and will it be similar to the last certification exam?

The certification exam is 50 multiple choice and true & false questions covering all topics in inbound marketing. The test taker has 50 minutes to complete the exam, and a 75% is a passing score. Click here to learn more about the certification.

The exam will be very similar to the last certification exam, with updated and improved questions.
 

 

16. If I already am an Inbound Marketing Certified Professional or I don't want to take the certification exam, can I still sign up for the webinars? Do I need to register differently?

You are not required to take the certification exam if you have already taken it or you don't want to take it. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the webinars and learn! You may register on the same form on the University page. For the "Would you like us to reserve your seat for the Inbound Marketing Certification Exam?" question, feel free to select "no."

However, please remember that by selecting no, we will not be reserving you a seat and you must wait until the October relaunch if you change your mind.

 

17. Is the certification exam relaunch an additional certification that Inbound Marketing Certified Professionals need to take?

The certification exam relaunch is not an additional certification, however it is updated with questions from the new and ongoing webianars. The exam is for folks who have not yet been certified, but would like to be. Everyone who passes any version of the exam has the same inbound marketing certification.
