The goal of the Director of Marketing is to develop event positioning and messaging, create attendee and sales marketing strategies, and develop and execute successful marketing plans based upon a clear understanding of the needs of target audience segments in the Web 2.0, Government 2.0 and Enterprise 2.0 markets.
Specific responsibilities:
- Work with the Group Vice President of Marketing, General Managers, content chairs, sales team and event partners to develop event strategy, positioning and key messages for technology conferences and tradeshows
- Develop strategic audience development plans and ensure marketing communications accurately reflect event positioning and key messaging
- Work with sales team to develop sales marketing plans, lead generation strategies and compelling sales materials, clearly demonstrating the benefits of event sponsorship
- Regularly review marketing plans, response rates, attendee demographics, and industry best practices to ensure marketing efforts are effective, efficient and successful, making recommendations and adjustments as appropriate
- Oversee community building and social media strategies that drive engagement, interaction, brand affinity, and improve the audience experience
- Ensure event websites are on message and integrated with marketing strategies
- Create compelling and successful audience development programs with media partners, industry leaders, bloggers, associations, speakers and exhibitors
- Oversee audience research programs and provide relevant data and analysis to be used in marketing, sales and content development
- Ensure all marketing plans are on schedule and on budget
- Manage a staff of 2 marketing professionals
- Stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in the web 2.0, government 2.0 and enterprise 2.0 markets
- Stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in strategic marketing communications, including developments and best practices in social media and online marketing
- Additional responsibilities as appropriate
Requirements:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of and interest in the web 2.0, government 2.0 and enterprise 2.0 markets
- Experience managing and motivating a successful team
- Track record of success in meeting or exceeding goals by utilizing traditional, online and social media marketing strategies
- Experience in live event marketing
- Experience and comfort with data capture and analysis, database marketing and research
- Self-motivated with ability to work with multiple teams and take direction from multiple individuals and outside partners
- BA/BS required
- Some travel required
