I am the web manager for www.nlpg.com. We are working to improve our website grader score and we keep getting the following notice:
Permanent Redirect Not Found
Search engines may think www.nlpg.com and nlpg.com are two different sites. You should set up a permanent redirect (technically called a "301 redirect") between these sites. Once you do that, you will get full search engine credit for your work on these sites.
For example, www.nlpg.com seems to have 3,703 inbound links whereas nlpg.com has 3,939 inbound links. By correctly configuring a permanent 301 redirect, the search rankings might improve as all inbound links are correctly counted for the website.
I have created a 301 redirect and we still keep getting this notice. Is the redirect not working properly still? Do you have any advise on how to fix this?
301 Redirect

http://www.webconfs.com/how-to-redirect-a-webpage.php has a nice list of the different ways to do an 301 redirect.
I've used the .htaccess file method several times and it has worked fine. Your situation and website may be different so look at all the redirect options to find the correct method for your site. Good luck!

I asked our support team at HubSpot about this, and here's what they said:
I checked it out and noticed they are redirecting to a totally different URL (an extended version of their domain). However, that version doesn’t have a “www” version. There is certainly something weird going on, but the thing is we are calculating the http://www.nlpg.com/ version, but that isn’t the URL they are doing the 301 direct on. Their 301 on a same domain seems to be on the following: com/
http://newleafpublishinggroup.
They may want to try calculating their score on that instead and see what the results are, because the NLPG version is not the URL they are directing traffic to.
Hubspot's website grader

Hubspot's website grader probably picks-up backlinks from yahoo site explorer. If you've made proper 301 redirect, it will take time for search engines to reindex it and the grader will then stop showing you this notice.
P.S. You own a nice 4

P.S. You own a nice 4 letters domain, why do you redirect it to this ugly long one?
