Hi Rebecca, Love the changes

Hi Rebecca,

Love the changes to the site. I haven't been able to visit as much as I'd like....sad, I know.

One suggestion that I had, and not necessarily for IMU, but maybe Hubspot; Now that there are success stories - campaigns attributed directly to the bottom line.

I am searching for this data right now to defend my position against some dinosaur who has a blog claiming that  there are no social media success stories.

While it took me a small amount of  time to compile the information, it's signifciance is of great importance.

Thought that with Hubspot's connections, maybe a "data" call?

Convincing the c-suite is easy at times, but when they need to justify themselves to the BOD, it's much easier to show facts and figures.

Hope all is well.

Have a great week.

Things to look forward to with IMU2!

Hey folks,

Awesome suggestions. I am working to see if we can make the exam functionality a bit more user-friendly. I agree; being able to review your answers; skip answers would be FANTASTIC. We just gotta see if the vendor we're using can do that. -- Also, we're revising the exam a bit to make it more straight forward.

Also, the webinars are all up for viewing. I don't think you can play them full screen if you watch then on-demand on the site. However! Feel free to download them (they are MP4s) and play them however on your own computer. For example. I think iTunes will let you play them fullscreen.

Hope this helps, and the next round is EVEN better!

Recognizing those certified when registering for new classes

Therese Byrne's picture

Therese Byrne 3 years 43 weeks 4 days 1 hour ago

I was excited to see two new classes in August.  In registering, I was automatically registered for IMU too.  This doesn't make sense for me as I was in the first IMU class, passed the test and now a Certified Inbound Marketing Professional.

Option to retake it :)

IMU was sooo much of fun and informative...

One option that I will like to have is to retake the test and picking out the best score.. (lols)

Cheers

That option ...

Option to Skip Questions on Exam and Return Before Submission.

Dan Ronken's picture

Dan Ronken 3 years 47 weeks 6 days 9 hours ago

IMU has taught me so much as I'm just beginning in this field. Great job! My two cents (and two suggestions) are:

1) I second the motion for a full screen during webinars w chat / twitter (as an option).

2) Allowing the test taker to skip questions and return to them for review before submission.

Thanks for everything!

I second this suggestion from Dan:

2) Allowing the test taker to skip questions and return to them for review before submission.

Otherwise I think the classes were great.

Login issues

Etela I's picture

First of all, thank  you so much for providing this webinar to the marketing community. I enjoyed it very much and will definitely come back for more.

However, it would be awesome if you could fix the technical issues around login. I have been struggling to log in for days. I was getting close to giving up. I just switched from FireFox to IE and created my 3rd account in hopes to be able to log in. I am in now but am afraid to turn off my computer because what if I won’t be able to log in again?? I missed both sessions on Friday and am waiting for the second one to be posed so I can try my luck with the exam.

Wish me good luck with logging in and the exam.

Thank you, Etela

regarding the exam

this is regarding the site - specially the exam section.

an email confirmation would be a good idea after finishing exam or an exam status maybe posted on profile (completed exam)  just to know that my answers were submitted properly.

Future courses

Katlin Farrell's picture

I was wondering if there would be future courses after this initional one was completed.  Is there a topic where people have started suggesting topics?  Maybe future courses could go more indepth with this one being the basic/overview course?

Great Idea

Katlin, We'll definitely be doing future Inbound Marketing University courses. If you want to start a thread on topics you'd like us to cover, we'd love to hear everybody's ideas.

IMU Alumni

Adrian Chira's picture

Adrian Chira 3 years 48 weeks 6 days 4 hours ago

 Hi Rick,

I think you should start preparing an IMU Alumni section of the site and probably a LinkedIn group. We should keep the momentum and use the resources and the collective knowledge you succeeded to gather in one place.

Best regards,

Adrian

Absolutely!

Hi Adrian,

I think you're absolutely right. We want to keep up the momentum with IMU and InboundMarketing.com as much as possible.

We're open to any suggestions you have.

Actually, because of suggestions here, Rebecca created an LinkedIn IMU Alumni group here: http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=2045641

Other thoughts?

2 more ideas

Adrian Chira's picture

Adrian Chira 3 years 41 weeks 1 day 6 hours ago

 Well Rick,

I have 2 suggestions:

1. Create a group of volunteers that can offer free consultancy to those that have issues regarding inbound marketing. It can start by offering consultancy services to non-profits.

2.  Spread the knowledge. Create a certification program for specialists that can train others on inbound marketing (add certified trainers).

Thanks,

Adrian

Super Ideas!

Adrian,

I like these ideas a lot -- and I think some of them may be the answer to the question I posed earlier over here

I'm confident we'll be able to some version of both of these before too long ...

Thanks so much for the input.

Rick

Thanks

 Thank you Rick.

Just reading about the results that Dan Ronken had with his site in just four weeks I had another idea: What if you host the inbound marketing success stories somewhere on this site and let the people that used the methodology of inbound marketing to tell how they succeeded and what were their challenges. In time these may turn into real life case studies.

Thanks,

Adrian

Great Ideas

RickBurnes's picture

RickBurnes 3 years 40 weeks 2 days 22 hours ago

Hi Adrian,

I really like that idea.

I'd love to get a robust list of case studies and success stories up on the site, but to get something started in the short-term, I put together this wiki page this evening: http://www.inboundmarketing.com/case-studies

It's just a stub right now, but I hope you and everybody else here will add to it over time. (Because it's just a stub, I'm holding off on adding it to the nav for now. Once we have a little more content on the page, I'll add it to the nav.)

Hopefully we can make it into a valuable resource for people. What do you think we can do to make it more useful?

Frustrated? Using Windows and Firefox, possibly other systems

Chuck Koch's picture

Chuck Koch 3 years 49 weeks 2 days 6 hours ago

I missed the entire first class as I was unable to view the slides.  Here is a process that worked for me in getting up and running for the second class.

I am using Windows and Firefox.  This may also resolve these issues if you are using a MAC or Linux system, with or without Windows.

1) Run your anti-malware software to remove all adware and spyware.  These will only slow down your system.  Rerun it until it is completely void of malware.  These programs run several levels deep, so just doing  it once is not enough.  Those in lower levels just reconstruct and install the top layer, again.

2) Close all applications.

3) Download the latest version of your browers (Firefox 3.0.11). If you have it, download it again - doesn't hurt, just takes time.

http://www.getfirefox.net

4) Install Firefox.

5) Download the latest verson of Java  - same issues as above.

6) BEFORE installing this, Cntl-Alt-Delete and click on the Processes tab.

Click on the Image Name column to list the applications by  name.

Go down to jqs.exe and close that application.

7) Now install Java.

8) Reboot your system.

9) Rerun your malware software application.  In this process I picked up 13 new ones in the first level and 2 on the second.

You should be ready to go.

Webinar slides..

Aditi Sawhney's picture

Aditi Sawhney 3 years 49 weeks 2 days 7 hours ago

An option to view webinar slides in advance (may be half an hour early). As today during the Webinar there were so many tweets regarding the " inacessibility of slides" .

Saw couple of tweets mentioning they will drop the course, which definitely can be avoided

Full screen

Zeenat Rasheed's picture

It would be great to be able to full-screen the entire screen (incl. sidebar and video) instead of having to pop the presentation out in a larger size and toggle between the two in order to send questions.

Also think that sending questions via Twitter directly from the screen would be excellent.

We should see an #imc twitter search in-window. Helps with facilitating questions and collaboration if many folks are having the same problems.

Bonus points for ability to tweet directly from the presentation screen.
