A blog is definitely a way for potential employers to evaluate the expertise of a candidate, as well as getting to know the owner of the resume in further details.

I also believe that having worked for myself online for so long, I am more unemployable (for a conventional job) than I was 5 years ago when I was already unemployable (big fish from small pond syndrome)
