Google ignoring meta keywords is a great reason to stop fretting over them but lots of the other services on the web may well tap into them to try to determine the content's aboutness.

It's hard to believe, but there are people who still don't get it.
I'm constantly arguing with a group of SEOs at UK business forum about meta keywords not being a ranking factor and they have this ridiculous conspiracy theory about Google telling us lies.
