Biagio from Joke and Biagio, here. My wife Joke and I own Joke Productions, Inc.
We are a young production company, but broke in at time when blogs were rare, and no one had yet uttered the words Social Media.
So while our careers are taking off, and we have many excellent projects under our belts, it recently hit us: media is changing. The web is changing. Social Media is here to stay. And like most producers in our business, we were doing nothing about it.
So we dove in head first, launched our blog and got on Twitter as jokeandbiagio.
Our social media goals are fairly simple:
1. To promote and create conversation around our TV shows (Scream Queens Season 2 is our next show, and will air later in 2010.) We took a step in the right direction with this Twitterview, but know there's probably more we can do.
2. To help aspiring producers find our blog, which, as far as we know, is one of the only blogs to give practical advice on producing in Hollywood and breaking in to reality TV.
3. To establish ourselves on the web as experts in our field.
But, it's easy to get overwhlemed. Do we start a Facebook fan page? Get on Friend Feed? Have employees tweet about the show? Republish the blog elsewhere? Do seperate Facebook fan pages for the blog and Scream Queens? And from a big picture perspective, are there some social media goals missing from our list?
Being a young company, we can't yet staff a social media expert, so for now, I'm it! Since I'm a full-time producer (and that sometimes means 20 hour days) my part-time social media efforts have to be targeted and effective. Any advice on a gameplan for promoting our shows, promoting our blog, and establishing ourselves on the web as experts in our field would be much appreciated.
Best,
Biagio

Republishing Blog Content
jokeandbiagio 2 years 33 weeks 6 days 4 hours ago
Thanks, guys. Appreicate it. Also, what about republishing the blog content? Should it automaticaally be pulled into the Faceboook fan page? And would that be the whole blog, or just the title with a link? Can you be penalized by Google with the dupe content clause for doing so, or is that not true? Also, the the content be republished on syndication sites like Associated Content?
Thanks,
Biagio
There are two different types

There are two different types of duplicated content: duplicate content on your website and duplicate content on other domains
Google understands that some of the duplicate content on your domain is caused by bad SEO optimized CMS and will not penalize you for it but you will still leak PR juice to duplicate pages.
On the other hand, duplicated content on other domains is considered to be out of your control so once again you will not be penalized for it, however, you take a chance that some other duplicate out there is considered original instead of the original article and ranks higher than original.
So, yes, you should post your content via your social media streams (facebook, twitter etc.) but if I were you I'd only pull short description + link to original.
Impressive start

Hi Biagio,
you had an impressive start on new media and did already a good job. From your goal list I see that you have 2 target audiences:
1. People that are talking about your show (Scream Queens)
2. People that want to produce shows
Having in mind this I would suggest to create a new blog, twitter account and Facebook fan page for your first goal (your TV show). The second and third goals are served well by what you have already created (you can think also of a fan page but I don't know how many producers to be you can get to be your fan).
Best regards,
Adrian
Great advice Adrian, I agree,

Great advice Adrian, I agree, the show needs additional blog and social media accounts.
