As a chiropractor I use my blog to be a health information resource for my clients. My url drkevdc.wordpress.com is lame. I want to buy a domain and move the blog over to wordpress.org where I can have more control.
I need some help choosing a url. Harringtonfamilychiropracticblog.com just seems too long and is prone to be spelled incorrectly. Should I go with my name? Drkevinharringtonblog.com?
Any suggestions on a name would be greatly appreciated.

A good tagline might be the answer

I tend to be a big believer in short, clear and concise blog names ... and using a tagline to help connect it to you and your business.
For example, something like "Back to Basics" could be your blog's name. A tagline in the header -- ideally, positioned in close proximity to the name -- could be something like "Tips for Healthy Living from Dr. Kevin Harrington".
Just a thought.

Hey Kevin I know picking up a blog name can be one of the toughest jobs at times. Please don't hesistate to share your options I will suggest to pick a name that defines your arena best. Something that appeals to a broad range of visitors to your online place... now that can be related to the work you do, majority of people your work appeals to... - Pick something short - if not 2 then no more than 3 words- Try and add major keywords in URL (Can be most difficult part :) ) couple of random suggestions: - ChiroForm- Chirodoctor..Hope this helps:-Aditi.S
Make It Memorable

Dr. Harrington,
I would suggest something that is short and easy to remember.
How about DrKHarringtonknows.com, DrKevinKnows.com or use a phrase that represents your practice...something that represents your mantra.
I checked my domain registration site for both domain names -http://brandmean.com--they are available.
Best,

Tough One!

Kevin,
This is a tough question. I'd say you should look for two qualities in your domain:
(1) easy to spell
(2) short
(3) *bonus* easy to remember
Beyond that, I think it's REALLY important to move your blog over to your own domain. Right now your passing all your SEO authority to Wordpress. When you move it over you'll be building your own SEO authority, and helping your business and blog to rank higher in Google.
Here's a great article that talks more about this: http://blog.hubspot.com/blog/tabid/6307/bid/46/Why-Business-Blogs-Shouldn-t-Be-on-BlogSpot-com.aspx

Rick's correct on all counts.
Have you considering being more broad in your URL name? Instead of referencing yourself you could hit more broad industry keywords.
Just a thought. This is all personal preference.
Thank You

Thanks guys for the responses, if no one minds I will come up with a couple of names and throw them out to the forum to see what everyone thinks.
Short and Sweet

I would definately recommend short and sweet. Yes it is nice if you can get your keywords in there but most importantly it needs to be memorable.
